Gifted & Talented Sixth Graders Deliver Handmade Scarves, Elbow Grease to St. Vincent's Food Pantry

The Gifted and Talented Students who meet at Mt. Rose Elementary School delivered handmade scarves and a little elbow grease at the St. Vincent's Food Pantry on January 12. The students have been learning about poverty and homelessness and wanted to help make a difference in their community. The students cleaned and helped pack boxes of food, impressing all bystanders with their energy and enthusiasm.
Smith Valley High School Returns to St. Vincent's Center for Third Year in a Row!

The students of Smith Valley High School made their annual trek to the St. Vincent's Center, where staff was thrilled with the hours of service in the Food Pantry, Emergency Assistance office, and Thrift Shop (where they helped assemble a 10 ft. Christmas tree!). Thank you, students!
St. Albert's Third Graders Visit St. Vincent's Center
These darling third graders from
St. Albert's School delivered food, clothing, and toiletries to the St. Vincent's Center, where they toured the facilities. The youngsters impressed staff with their insightful questions and compassion for people in need.
Designing Women Help Spread Christmas Cheer
The hardworking and efficient staff of Urban Design Studio distributed more than 400 Christmas stockings with grace and charm during during Operation Stocking Stuffer 2006. We hope to see this amazing crew again next year!

American Legion Nevada Boys' State Volunteers
Show Why Today's Kids are Leaders of Tomorrow

What do you get when 48 high school seniors from the American Legion Nevada Boys' State program show up to lend a hand? Good manners, excellent questions, and tons of ENERGY!

The boys worked hard in the St. Vincent's Food Pantry and Thirft Shop, where they swept floors, packed food boxes, sorted donated clothing, and...they even did windows!
Afterward, the boys did some shopping in the Thrift Shop, where they found these cool glasses. Thanks for all your hard work, boys!
Microsoft Volunteers Roll Up Sleeves for Food Pantry

As part of Microsoft's ongoing volunteer program, these hard workers from Microsoft came in ready to get down to business! They did a great job sorting and stock food items. Thank you, Microsoft, for your caring commitment to our community!
Food Pantry Volunteer Receives Senior Samaritan Award
Richard Lopez has volunteered everyday at St. Vincent's Food Pantrty everyday for the past year. For his dedication, Richard was recently recognized with the Senior Samaritan Award from the Governor's Office. He packs boxes of food, helping make it possible for the Food Pantry to provide supplemental food for nearly 12,000 people each month. Thank you, Richard!
Catholic Singles Group Shares Generosity, Good Times
After a tour of the St. Vincent's Center, members of the local Catholic Singles Group rolled up their sleeves and helped sort donated goods at the St. Vincent's Thrift Shop. Afterwards, they enjoyed lunch at the nearby Record Street Cafe. This group doesn't just work hard, they know how to have fun, too!

Kaitlynn Celebrates Birthday by Sharing With Others
For her 9th birthday, Kaitlynn Snyder decided to share with others less fortunate. Instead of birthday presents for herself, she asked guests to bring donations for the St. Vincent's Center, Holy Child Day Home, and Casa de Vida. A parishioner of Holy Cross Church in Spanish Springs, Kaitlynn delivered donations of diapers, toiletries, blankets, and other items collected to the St. Vincent's Center, which will be used by the Emergency Assistance Program. Thank you, Kaitlynn!
